They have danced through 60 years
WHEN Kath and Stuart Bowman headed to a dance in 1958, they didn’t know they’d meet their future life partners. But that’s exactly what happened. And while they may have differed on dance taste (Kath liked old time and Stuart preferred modern), they instantly hit it off.
Now, 60 years later, the couple are celebrating their diamond anniversary.
And six decades of marriage has certainly yielded its fair share of stories of mischief and mayhem (mostly on Stuart’s part).
Plus five beloved children and a lifetime of cherished memories.
When the couple met, Kath was a nurse at Barham hospital and Stuart was a tanker driver from Koondrook.
Stuart said he was instantly taken by Kath’s intelligence.
‘‘She’s reliable and I knew she had a brain about her, particularly with the work she was doing,’’ he said.
So what’s the secret to a long marriage?
‘‘You’ve got to overlook a lot of things and learn not to blow your top any time anything goes wrong and just remember, it’ll be all right,’’ Kath said.
‘‘You’ve both got to give and take,’’ Stuart added.
And judging by this couple, this secret has certainly worked.
