Rich River

In golf cro­quet pen­nant last week the Rich River Emus lost to Euroa four games to eight.

The score was much closer on hoops - 61 hoops to 66.

Bev Floyd was the best per­former with two games. The Kan­gas had a bye last week. In as­so­ci­a­tion cro­quet pen­nant this week Rich River sec­tion one de­feated Nu­murkah two games to one.

Mar­jorie and Ian Grant won their dou­bles, and Ian won his sin­gles.

The sec­tion two team of Lyn and John Nor­wood won all three games against Nu­murkah Navy, with an im­pres­sive score of 42 hoops to 13.

In club play on Tues­day, 14 mem­bers played sin­gles.

Two play­ers won all three games, Rus­sell Smyth beat­ing Kaye Joyce into first place with a score of +16 hoops to +9.

Three mem­bers played in a so­cial day at Yar­ra­wonga Cro­quet Club.

Anne Dodd, Fiona Lar­combe and He­len Bri­er­ley all won three out of four games and had a great day in a very wel­com­ing at­mos­phere. Anne also won a door prize. The courts were closed for main­te­nance for three days last week, and mem­bers are de­lighted to be play­ing on courts which are in ex­cel­lent con­di­tion.

EMCC had suc­cess on the day with two of our mem­bers play­ing well. Trevor Peters the win­ner, Mavis Peters run­ner-up in a great re­sult.

EMCC trav­elled to Shep­par­ton this week for pen­nant play.

Shep­par­ton were the win­ners against EMCC Shep­par­ton won 6-70 to EMCC 6-62.

All games were very close, Shep­par­ton won the first set of sin­gles 2-24 against 2-20.

The sec­ond sin­gles match was also close with Shep­par­ton tak­ing the win 2-23 to 2-22.

The dou­bles were just as close with Shep­par­ton too strong for EMCC. Shep­par­ton won 2-23 to 2-20. Trevor Peters and Beryl Ash won three games each both play­ing well.

Next week EMCC are at home play­ing Kyabram good luck EMMC.

Mon­day, Septem­ber 10 saw a good turn up with 14 play­ers tak­ing to the courts, plenty of sun­shine for a change, just per­fect for a game of cro­quet, dou­bles, sin­gles and one trio were played with some very close games.

John Gra­ham was the win­ner of the Lets Do Cof­fee Voucher Trevor and Mavis Peters both tied for run­ner up.

Next Mon­day some of our play­ers will travel to Kyabram to com­pete in their so­cial day, hope the weather holds and we have some good cro­quet.
