BOWLS Echuca’s division one weekend pennant side recorded a good win on Saturday, defeating the previously unbeaten Tongala side by 16 shots. ’
At the Friday evening barbecue the lucky members draw favoured Kevin Humbert in the mega victory.
Congratulations to the CVBD women on clinching the Northern Challenge shield on Sunday at the Moama Bowling Club. Unfortunately the local CVBD men failed to win the Norm Knopp shield, losing the games against Goulburn Valley 51-77 and Bendigo 60-74 before defeating Northern District 103-59. Goulburn Valley defeated the Bendigo District in a final winner-takes-all round three to collect the shield.
The Jean Sprague (Goulburn Valley) rink won the best performed team for the women while the John Stokes (GV) four won the mens.

Campaspe 60 and over bowls ON YET another beautiful sunny day Campaspe 60 and over bowls celebrated the Len Vine Shield.
Len’s son Bruce and daughter Joy were present to assist in the day.
Some 120 bowlers turned out at the Moama Bowling Club and after a very pleasant day we had two three-game winners.
The eventual runners-up were from Tongala: Alan Davis, Stuart Reid, Ken Campbell and skip Ian Parkinson.
The winners of the day were presented with the Len Vine Shield and were from Echuca. Peter Phyland, Ron Payne, Mike Meyer and skip Tony Deenan.
A great day was enjoyed by all participants. Next week’s game is at Tongala at 11am.
Moama RSL INDOOR bowls results from the previous week saw 27 players take part in four games of seven ends.
The winners on 33 points were Margaret Green (skip), Bev Guarda and Dawn Beer. Runners-up with 33 points were Pamela Reyment (skip), Colin Hicks, Myrle Clancy and Doug Gill.
Consolation prizes went to Roy Prigg, Topsy Haw and Phyllis Eley.
City of Echuca Bowls Club ECHUCA’S division one weekend pennant side recorded a good win on Saturday, defeating the previously unbeaten Tongala side by 16 shots.
Echuca had two rink wins, with Geoff Beattie’s side of Carly Taylor, Mark Evans and Philip Thorn finishing their day with a 23-shot win.
The division two side also competed against Tongala and despite two rink wins, lost the match by a single shot.
Division three played Tongala at home, and finished the day with an 11-shot win.
Dennis Compton’s team of Jack Shearer, Nathan Beecroft and Ron Payne won their game by 10 shots, and Norm Hodge, Bill Toll, John Dignan and Bob Bartlett won by 12 shots.
Division four played Tongala away and returned home with an eight-shot win. This match had three close games, with the Echuca side winning two rinks and a tie in the other game.
Division five was played at home but were unable to score a win against the visiting side from Deniliquin RSL.
In Friday’s round of midweek pennant, the division one side played Moama at home. This match was close at times, but the visiting side finished strongly to score the overall win.
The division two side played Rich River at home, and had three rink wins, to finish the day with a victory by 17 shots.
Division three also played Moama at home, but found the visiting side too strong, eventually losing on both rinks.
Congratulations to Leica Roney, Michelle Cunnington and Pat Schram who were members of the winning Campaspe Valley side in the Golden Rivers Challenge at Moama on Sunday.
Pat Schram and Kerryn Evans will compete in the final of the CVBD State Pairs at Echuca on Monday. This final will commence at 9.30am, and their opponents will be the Moama combination of Mary Ann Spizer and Mia Young.
Members and visitors are reminded that entries are being taken for three tournaments coming up at City of Echuca.
The Kennaugh Triples will be held on Monday, November 12, commencing at 5pm. The ladies’ Christmas fours is being played on Wednesday, December 12 commencing at 10am.
The men’s Christmas fours will be held on Thursday, December 20 starting at 9.30am. Entries can be made by contacting John Brown or Rhonda Gallagher, or entry sheets are on the club’s notice board.
Bowls results from the October 22 mixed triples saw winners in Stan Glasser, Gayle Kerr and Gary Trotter. Runners-up were Mike Candy, John Simpson and Ray McDonnell.
