Woman faces child sex charges

The Riverine Herald - - NEWS -

A ROCHESTER woman charged with child sex offences has faced court.

Andrea Yvonne Emmerson, 28, appeared in Echuca Magistrates Court charged with using a carriage service to procure a person under 16 years for sexual activity.

The offences are alleged to have been between April 2017 and September this year, with the Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team charging Emmerson on October 16. She is on bail. During Tuesday’s filing hearing, police prosecutor Senior Constable Dave Rennie, acting on behalf of the OPP, requested a longer than normal adjournment to give them time to prepare a lengthy and complex brief of evidence.

‘‘Three computers and a mobile phone were seized. Material on those devices has to be analysed for e-crime and that could take up to four months,’’ he said.

‘‘Police went to Western Australia and spoke to witnesses and the victim . . . and they need to be transcribed.’’

Magistrate Sarah Leighfield set a committal mention date of March 6, 2019, at Bendigo Magistrates Court. WE CAN’T get any worse.

That’s the motto of the Riv’s newly formed touch football team.

Of which I am a vital member. Not because I’m good. Because I have played before.

Unfortunately that wasn’t enough to get us over the line.

Yes, our first two defeats — or rather annihilations — were a little soul-crushing but the good thing is, we can only get better.

Plus, no matter how badly we play, we’re still getting fit. So it’s a losewin situation.

You see, I can’t let my fitness slip, especially after enduring 12 weeks of torture, I mean training for the Sweat versus Steam.
