While also giving members of the public a chance to ask the tricky questions.

“Our goal is to achieve a more informed level of discussion, understanding and public participation in the election process and outcome,’’ C4EM chief executive Nina O’Brien said.

‘‘It’s not the intention for C4EM to comment on the merits or otherwise of the candidates, but rather to give each the opportunity to express their views in a single forum, open to the public.’’

The candidates participating will be Peter Walsh for the Nationals, Dan Straub for the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party, Peter Williams for Labor and Ian Christoe for The Greens.

“The forum will be chaired by C4EM chairman Geoff Kelly and each candidate will be allowed 10 minutes (uninterrupted) to provide an overview of their policies and priorities for the region,’’ Nina said. “After all candidates have spoken, the chair will take questions from the public.

‘‘These may be directed at one, more or all of the candidates. Each candidate, if they wish, may also choose to answer the question.’’

The forum will be on Thursday from 5.30pm-7pm at the Echuca Club.
