Ganna gets a good one in Hig­gins

GANNAWARRA Shire Coun­cil wel­comes a new di­rec­tor of cor­po­rate ser­vices, Philip Hig­gins.

Chief ex­ec­u­tive Tom O’Reilly said coun­cil was de­lighted in the new ap­point­ment of Philip to the Gannawarra Shire.

“Philip is com­ing to us from the Mur­ray River Coun­cil where he has worked since 2006 in a va­ri­ety of se­nior man­age­ment po­si­tions in­clud­ing di­rec­tor of cor­po­rate ser­vices,” Mr O’Reilly said.

‘‘Philip is a highly ex­pe­ri­enced pro­fes­sional with over 30 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence in the lo­cal govern­ment sec­tor.

“His ear­lier lo­cal govern­ment ex­pe­ri­ence in­cludes four years at the Cam­paspe Shire Coun­cil as the gen­eral man­ager cor­po­rate and five years at the Lee­ton Shire Coun­cil as the di­rec­tor cor­po­rate ser­vices.

‘‘Philip’s ex­ten­sive ex­pe­ri­ence is sup­ported by qual­i­fi­ca­tions in­clud­ing a Bach­e­lor of Busi­ness (Lo­cal Govern­ment), a Master of Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion ma­jor­ing in fi­nance; along with a Grad­u­ate Cer­tifi­cate in Busi­ness Ex­cel­lence.

“Philip will be re­spon­si­ble for ar­eas in­clud­ing fi­nance and bud­get, au­dit, rat­ing and val­u­a­tion, in­for­ma­tion com­mu­ni­ca­tion tech­nol­ogy, gov­er­nance and risk, hu­man re­source man­age­ment, records man­age­ment and cus­tomer ser­vice.

Mr Hig­gins said he was look­ing for­ward to work­ing with Gannawarra Shire Coun­cil and the wider com­mu­nity in the ca­pac­ity of his new role.
