It was a very entertaining evening and a lot of fun was had by all.
There was a Christmas trivia quiz and a theatre sports event organised by president Marg Kennedy in which eight unsuspecting members were asked to participate in an impromptu performance.
The GVCA Association croquet pennant finals were held at Rich River on Wednesday of this week.
Division one was played between Shepparton’s Kevin Maloney and Noel Dealy, and Helen and Ron Wrest of Mooroopna Gold.
Mooroopna had a good start, winning the doubles 26 hoops to five.
Shepparton fought back in the singles, winning both games 26-10 and 26-8.
The end result was Shepparton two games 57 to Mooroopna Gold one game 44.
In division three, Ken Richardson and Sue Van Luneburg of Mooroopna on 10 hoops beat Beryl Kelly and Kathy Maloney of Shepparton Green on nine.
Ken went on to win his singles against Beryl 14 hoops to nine, and Sue lost to Kathy four hoops to 18.
The end result was interesting, Mooroopna winning two games to one, but the hoop score was in Shepparton’s favour, 31 to 28.
FRIDAY of last week six members decided to enjoy the morning at Vic Park and play some croquet. Two games of doubles were played before the heat set in, Jan Tracy was the winner and Elayne Pickthall runnerup.
Monday this week was a nice day with plenty of sunshine and 14 members joined together to play doubles, the games were all taking a long time to finish as they were being fought out to the last hoop.
There was plenty of laughter on the courts especially when Jill Graham did the most brilliant jump shot, the ball ricocheting off another ball and doing a reverse jump shot through the back of the hoop. Unfortunately Jill couldn’t claim the hoop, bad luck Jill.
The day turned out to be a very good day with the nice weather and good company, the winner of the Let’s Do Coffee Voucher was Jenny van der Zande winning her three games with a score of +21 and a tie for runner-up both winning two games Jan Tracy +6 and Trevor Peters +6.
