Brumby Run dried out

The Riverine Herald - - YEAR IN REVIEW 2018 -

THE 2018 Billabong Ranch Brumby Run has been cancelled due to a lack of water, (unlike last year’s event, pictured). With drought sweeping through the country, Billabong Ranch’s dams at only 50 per cent capacity and water allocations not at 100 per cent, organisers Richard and Kerri Acquisto have realised they do not have a sufficient amount of water to make any mud. The Brumby Run is an annual obstacle course at Billabong Ranch and includes a swim in the channels and a heave through a mud pit.

Fake letters prove costly

FORMER Murray Shire councillor Gavin Burke has been “vindicated” after winning his defamation and malicious falsehood case against former Murray Shire mayor Graeme Shiells and his wife Sandra. In Melbourne County Court, Mr Burke was awarded $75,000 in damages (which included $15,000 in aggravated damages). He was also awarded costs, which are expected to be significant given the drawn out progress of the action.
