-

THERE are only two days remaining to secure a spot at the local sporting lunch of the year.

The third annual Sportsman Luncheon will see Australian sporting legends gather at Moama’s Border Inn on Wednesday to share their stories — all while raising funds for the emergency department and short stay unit at Echuca Regional Health.

This year’s speakers are Australian Basketball Hall of Fame Ray Borner, Essendon football champion Ken Fraser and crime journalist for the Herald Sun Keith Moor.

There will be plenty of laughs and inspiring moments throughout the day, hosted by Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation Echuca branch and XLI Club.

While the MCs — Ian Coutts and Ian Cover — will keep audiences entertained in between.

A marketing veteran, Ian Coutts worked in The Age and Syme Magazines before moving into sports administration in 1990, eventually becoming the first media manager of an AFL club in Victoria with Carlton Football Club.

While famed Australian radio presenter, comedian, politician and author Ian Cover will also bring decades of experience to the table.

The lunch will be on Wednesday, January 9 from noon to 4pm at the Border Inn Hotel.

The day will include raffles and the presentation of the 2019 Frank and Carmel Eyre award to the Victorian police officer who has performed exceptional service to their community.
