WIN A RIVERBOATS DOUBLE PASS
THE footpath around the Echuca water tower on the corner of High and Pakenham streets has been reopened for pedestrians traffic after four months of closure.
Coliban Water infrastructure manager Corey Bourne said scaffolding around the tower had been installed in late December to allow ongoing assessment work to continue and safe pedestrian access through the area.
The footpath was closed in late August 2018 following some materials which dislodged from the roof area of the tower.
An engineering report in recent months confirmed the material was decorative coping from under the edge of the roof, and not a structural part of the tower.
The report also identified a further piece of coping which had dislodged but was sitting in a bracket at the top of the tower.
The reinforced concrete tower was built in 1915.
