Two New Zealand photographers have secured top spots in this year’s round of an international photo competition dedicated specifically to the art of black-and-white photography.
Jeremy Senior and Christine Spring both managed to score category-topping positions in the 2014 Black and White Spider awards, a monochromatic global contest for both professional and amateur photographers now in its ninth year.
Senior scooped the Outstanding Achievement award for his ethereal landscape shot of the Coromandel’s Cathedral Cove, which placed first in the Nature — Amateur category.
Spring was awarded the top spot in the Sports — Amateur category with her image, Envy, gaining both an Outstanding Achievement and Merit of Excellence for placing second in the overall Photographer of the Year — Amateur contest.
The Black and White Spider Awards is now calling for submissions from professional and amateur photographers for the 2015 contest, with entries open until April 24 — see thespiderawards.com for full details.
