World Press Photo heads to Welling­ton

The 58th World Press Photo ex­hi­bi­tion has now closed in Auck­land and is mak­ing its way down the North Is­land. It will open to Welling­ton lo­cals, or those who find them­selves in the re­gion, on Septem­ber 19, at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.

The pho­to­graphs dis­played in this year’s ex­hi­bi­tion were se­lected from 97,912 im­ages sub­mit­ted by 5692 in­di­vid­ual pho­tog­ra­phers from more than 131 coun­tries. Im­agery in the com­pe­ti­tion is var­ied, with the cat­e­gories into which pho­tog­ra­phers were able to en­ter their works in­clud­ing Con­tem­po­rary Is­sues, Daily Life, Gen­eral News, Long-term Projects, Na­ture, Por­traits, Sports, and Spot News.
