A sneak peek at the Auckland Festival of Photography line-up
Having recently announced that the 2016 Annual Commission by Sacred Hill winning artist is Russ Flatt, the Auckland Festival of Photography team has been working hard behind the scenes to make this year’s festival as great as ever.
The event will be held on June 2–24, and it’s been confirmed that the Auckland Photo Day is back after a year’s hiatus in 2015. The 24-hour ‘day in the life’ competition was initiated in 2004 and asks Aucklanders to capture images that reflect their city.
This year’s competition sees the introduction of a new category — you can now capture and submit moving images (videos, time- lapses, short films). All images entered must have been captured on the day, and the official date will be announced soon.
A small preview of the 2016 festival programme has been released, with Ilan Wittenberg’s Bare Truth series of work being included in this year’s line-up. The festival is also working with the Indian Photo Festival to present work from more than a dozen photographers from India during the festival. Beijing’s Sim Chi Yin’s work, titled Rat Tribe, will also be shown during this year’s festival.
