Central

The organizers of this year’s PSNZ Central Regional Convention, to be hosted by the Kapiti Camera Club and titled Diversity in Photography, have assembled a line-up of outstanding photographers who will deliver a variety of presentations and workshops guaranteed to cover key genres of photography. This year’s event will be held in Porirua at the Whitireia New Zealand institute of technology, from September 23 to 25.

Some of New Zealand’s most talented photographers will share their knowledge and technical skills during the event, including Professor Geoffrey Batchen, Grant Sheehan, Glen Howey, and Esther Bunning. Workshops will also be hosted by photographers Nick Servian, David Hamilton, Chris Helliwell, Geoff Marshall, and Fiona Foxall.

Wellington creative photographer and Nikon New Zealand ambassador Esther Bunning will share her whimsical creative style, which allows her to create the fairy tale–like illustrative and award-winning imagery she is renowned for. While, if piloting a drone is something you are keen to master, you won’t want to miss the presentation by Grant Sheehan, one of New Zealand’s master drone photographers.

Nick Servian, a highly creative award-winning photographer with a vast amount of experience in many fields, including advertising, architecture, corporate, people, studio, still life, cars, aerial, travel, and fine art, runs his business from his own drive-in studio, which he’s had built in Wellington.

Registration is open to all photographers, not just PSNZ members. For more info, visit kapiticameraclub.co.nz/Convention.

Southern

Spectacular scenery, diverse wildlife, and famous West Coast hospitality will make PSNZ’s Southern Regional Convention, to be held over October 7–9, a memorable event.

This year’s convention is titled Top of the Coast and will be hosted by the Buller Camera Club, which has put together a programme guaranteed to educate, inspire, and allow delegates to explore and experience some of the outstanding scenery and historical aspects in and around Westport.

The keynote presenter, Bay of Plenty photographer Andy Belcher, boasts myriad top photographic awards — including British Wildlife Photographer of the year, Australasian Underwater Photographer of the Year, and Nikon Photo Contest International — and he will share his wealth of knowledge with attendees.

West Coast local and outdoor enthusiast Phil Rossiter is chairman of the Old Ghost Road — the longest continuous single track, purposebuilt for mountain bikers and trampers alike. As a member of the group responsible for its conception, planning, construction and ultimate completion, Phil will share his intimate experiences of being so closely involved over the eight-year journey to its opening.

Two field trips complete the programme, and they’ll take delegates to two of the Coast’s most spectacular scenic destinations. North of Westport is the Denniston Plateau, home to one of the richest high-quality coal seams in New Zealand, and, in the opposite direction, are Mitchells Gully, Charleston, and Cape Foulwind, all offering spectacular scenery, historical relics to explore, and wildlife at the cape seal colony.

Registration is open to all photographers, including non PSNZ members. More information can be found at bullersouthernregional.com.
