ASCOT

The Sportsman Midweek - - Trackwork - — Shayne O’Cass

FAIRY FAST (R3 No. 4) can keep her unbeaten record intact when she step up into 0MW grade at Ascot tomorrow. She opened with a half length maiden win at Pinjarra, then was too strong for them Northam last time over 1100m. She’s from a nice family, with her mum Fairessa picking up black type in Adelaide and was a half-sister to the talented stayer Grey Song. Fairy Fast is showing some toe over the shorter trips but should be able to push it out beyond the short course later on and should be too good. GOLD ARTISAN (R4 No. 4) ran a cracker on Saturday and if they back him up will take some beating in the 0LY. He was beaten by Five Degrees whose run had to be seen to be believed and that horse is likely going places, but this bloke stuck to his guns to snag second spot behind the impressive winner. He’s been up since June but continues to produce results and should get a nice run in transit here from barrier four. VELAGO (R6 No. 10) is yet to miss a place in four starts and will be competitive back up to class three grade. He ran some solid closing sectionals at Northam last start, and with some weight relief tomorrow and a perfect draw gets his chance to chalk up win number two.
