The Sportsman Midweek - - Trackwork - — Greg Spletter

We missed DESERT MAN (R8 No 3) on the weekend when he was scratched from a decent Bm70 with gate 18 and finds himself in an easier one tomorrow from the ace draw. I’m a big fan of the horse but he was off scene for two years and put in just an even run first-up off the long break. I figured he’d be a big improver last time and he finished off very strongly to nab victory on the line. He is fitter and looks well in after the claim.

WUDANG BLADE (R5 No. 1) has great credentials for a race like this and is due for a win after four runs back. He ran okay at Grafton last time under 60kg but has won four of six this circuit and is unbeaten over the short course. Gets a nice weight drop with the claim and is another Saturday grade runner looking to pick up a win at the midweekers.

Sticking with that then, FORTENSKY (R6 No. 2) takes on one of the weaker class sixes you will see up here and is well overdue for victory. He was only beaten two lengths by Belflyer in Saturday company last start

dropping back to restricted midweek class tomorrow gets his best chance in a long time to chalk up a win.
