Kaonic capable of making it two in a row
KAONIC went well enough at his second start to win at Canterbury on October 4, to warrant a chance at Randwick tomorrow over 1600m for the three-year-olds.
The Chris Waller-trained son of Savabeel is an impressive type and improving with each gallop. On Saturday he finished off his pacework a final 800m on the inside grass (reverse way) in 54.40, with the markers out 6m.
It was strong work and gets his chance to measure up to stronger opposition on the weekend.
TACTICAL FORMATION is in the astute Gerald Ryan stable that keeps providing early comers and this son of Mossman has ability to take hand in the finish of the 1000m opening two-year-old handicap tomorrow.
Ryan showed his hand when the youngster led all-the-way to win by six lengths in a Rosehill barrier trial, running 54.70 for 900m
His work last Saturday on the Pro Ride was sound, running 52.97 for 800m with a final 400m in 24.15.
He looks ready to run well on the weekend.
FIESTA runs in the same race and looks a well-above average filly by I Am Invincible with the benefit of one run when closing and luckless third in Listed Gimcrack Stakes on September 30.
She then had a quiet trial when a hard held second to a very smart one in Pure Elation at Warwick Farm on October 9.
Then she ran the best of the morning gallop on the inside grass (out 11m) running 55.60 for the 800m with a final 400m in 25.50.
It excellent work for a two-year-old filly who is ready to win.
ALWARD has won four races from his last five starts with the latest win at Randwick on October 7 when he beat Up ‘N’ Rolling and looks like a genuine stayer.
Trainer Chris Waller has the five-year-old import well placed tomorrow against this opposition over 2400m and will be hard to beat.
He galloped strongly with stablemate Tangled last Saturday on the inside grass (out 6m) reverse way, running 1000m in 1.09.10 with the last 600m in 38.60, a final 400m 24.66.
KING DARCI has had one run after a break when eighth, beaten 3.8 lengths by Chalk at Randwick on October 7 when ridden by a claiming apprentice.
Trainer Tim Martin has engaged Adam Hyeronimus on the weekend in a 1400m Benchmark 85 Handicap.
I haven’t timed King Darci in the past two weeks but he’s a good stable and does look well placed.
Market moves should be followed.
TANGLED followed tomorrow at Caulfield in the set weights threeyear-old Group 3 Classic (2000m) for Chris Waller and Blake Shinn.
The Snitzel colt was a good second to Ace High, beaten a short head, in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick on October 7 when having his third run back from a spell.
His work with Alward last Saturday was winning work and Tangled should be backed on the weekend as he has definitely improved.
