He in­di­cated, with hind­sight, he would have re­mained fur­ther to the out­side, which would have af­forded his mount clear run­ning ear­lier in home straight. Hay­don re­gard­ing the ap­par­ent change in tac­tics as horse was rid­den the lead in to­day â €™s event, which was in con­trast to the hor seâ €™s re­cent train­ing pat­tern. Jockey Cahill ex­plained that he had not been is­sued spe­cific in­struc­tions as to where to po­si­tion the horse, how­ever had been ad­vised should he be found in the sec­ond half of the field he should be look­ing to im­prove his po­si­tion to closer the lead when round­ing the home turn. Held up for clear run­ning round­ing home turn. Doomben 11/08/2018 Deer Moun­tain When ques­tioned as to the tac­tics adopted in the early stages in lead­ing to­dayâ €™s event, jockey J. Byrne stated that it was not his in­ten­tion to lead, how­ever, after begin­ning fairly he al­lowed the mare to stride for­ward to ob­tain a po­si­tion closer to the fence. Jockey Byrne added that as a con­se­quence he found him­self in lead leav­ing the 1200m and gave con­sid­er­a­tion to al­low­ing CASINO EVIL to cross for­ward of him. Given the moderate tempo in the early and mid­dle stages, he was con­tent to re­main in the lead­ing po­si­tion. Gold Coast 18/08/2018 Fran­cisca Raced three wide with­out cover through­out. Tnr stated only ex­cuse could make was gelds best form is on rain af­fected go­ing & it did not ap­pre­ci­ate dryer con­di­tions to­day. Tnr un­der­took to pro­vide blood re­sults & re­port any­thing amiss in com­ing days. Tnr added he would as­sess how geld pulled up be­fore mak­ing a de­ci­son on im­me­di­ate rac­ing fu­ture. P/R vet exam found no ab’s. Coffs Har­bour 22/07/2018 Sun­set Hills Round­ing h/turn be­came held up on heels & was un­able to im­prove un­til 300m. When quest re poor perf. rdr stated that as the start was af­fected his mount dropped its head and con­se­quently was slow to be­gin (2L). Rdr added after the man­ner it be­gan, and the fact it was back 250m in dis­tance to­day, his mount was obliged to set­tle at the tail of the field and it failed to sprint strongly on straight­en­ing. Rdr stated that his mounts form to date in­di­cates that the geld­ing races best when able to lead un­con­tested over a longer jour­ney and it ap­pre­ci­ates track con­di­tions softer than that to­day.
