SMART MELODY will be tested out over 1600m in tomorrow’s Group 1 MRC One Thousand Guineas at Caulfield, although she keeps finding when asked.
The Kris Lees-trained filly turned in solid enough work on Tuesday when strode over 1000m 1.07.60 and 23.76 for her last 400m.
Stablemate EL DORADO DREAMING turned in a real eye catching run last start for the Guineas.
She’s spot on now and breezed over 1000m with GEM SONG (Caulfield Guineas) on Tuesday, clocking 1.07.38 and 24.16 last for their last 400m.
Another of the Guineas’ contenders, MUSIC BAY, went 800m in 54.26 and 23.72 for the last 400m split.
It would pay to monitor moves Mick Price first starter SHOTMAKER in the Inglis Debutant Stakes.
This youngster can gallop and has looked good in two trials to date at Caulfield.
He worked super on Tuesday morning with PRINCESS OF QUEENS (Northwood Plume Stakes) over 800, clocking 51.69 and 22.69 for the final 400m.
The flashy UTZON showed up in a Cranbourne trials during the week. He is reported to have his share of ability and is expected to run well here.
WINTER BRIDE has trained on since scoring last start.
She is a leading contender when she steps out in the Northwood Plume Stakes (1200m) at Group 3 level. Sharp work over 600m on Tuesday, clocking 36.35. Spot on.
SYLPHEED worked 600m in 36.85 and can improve on recent efforts.
Henry Dwyer reported that SNITTY KITTY worked at Geelong this week in readiness for the Schillachi Stakes.
Her work was first rate when she covered 800m in 50.09 and a slick 600m split of 35.65.
It was an outstanding run in the Moir and she is primed to run a cracker this time out.

Both have had perfect preps for their respective assignments and will take a power of beating on the day.
They worked over 1000m in 1.06.94 and 24.65 for last 400m with plenty left the tank.
