Osland’s filly to Rock in the Highway
ARMIDALE filly Rock The World is the least likely of the country vistors to be over-awed by Derby day racing in Sydney tomorrow despite having never visited Rosehill Gardens before.
Indeed, the Stirling Osland-trained three-year-old made her debut in front of 100,000 people on Melbourne Cup day at Flemington almost 12 months ago when trained in Victoria by Shane Nichols.
Rock The World has been with two-times TAB Highway winner Osland for four starts which has seen the filly finish a close second at Moree before winning her next three starts.
“Three out of the four runs we’ve given her she has drawn the extreme outside barrier,” Osland said.
Rock The World brought up her hat-trick with a gutsy win at Muswellbrook on October 23 where she raced the speed with 60.5kg from barrier 13 of 13 and recorded a sizzling 56.77 for the 1000m.
“She had to do it with the red-hot favourite on her inside and it endedup finishing fifth or sixth,” Osland said.
“Rock The World had to keep running the whole way and left herself sitting there to be beaten so she showed a fair bit ticker to win.”
