Prairie set to burn rivals
3. ALL IN BRAWL is resuming but easily won on debut at Geelong back in July leading all the way and then came off pace and made a sustained wide around the outside to look the winner half way down straight only to be collared late at Moonee Valley. Shows some promise, drawn
get the run of the race and rates highly. The danger could be 5. STAR FALL, who looked good clocking smart time on soft ground in a recent Cranbourne barrier trial win. Started favourite on debut at Caulfield, then bolted in Ballarat and close up behind the smart Good ‘N’ Fast at Flemington before a break. Has plenty of ability. 4. MORE BRICKS missed the start and had to be used up to get into the race before bend battled on behind Mischa at the Valley. Can do better here with even luck. 6. SYMPHONETTE comes over from Adelaide and gave nothing else a chance winning at Morphettville last start. Definite threat.
Lot to like about the way 4. CASINO FOURTEEN toyed with his rivals at Donald last time. Did the job both ends, being used up early to get into a forward spot and exploding away in the straight clocking smart sectionals to boot. Does have an extra 2kg here and will
to get some luck from the wide draw but looks too good for them. 9. PLAY THAT SONG was only 5 lengths off Youngstar in a Qld Oaks and ready to show her best after three runs back. Probably should have finished closer at the Valley last start when momentum was halted close to line. 10. GHEEDAA has won three of her last four and freshened up since a strong win at Morphettville. The claim suits will go well. 6. HONEYWINE was good at Benalla and boxed on Kilmore last time. Can figure here.
2. ANOTHER BULLSEYE has form around G1 winner French Emotion and has beaten the smart Galaxy Raider at Flemington. Liked the way he hit the line in a recent trial Cranbourne to ready him for this. Won first-up over this course and distance last campaign drawn to get the gun Prairie Fire. run in midfield. Big threat. 4. MISS WAHOO chased home well behind Nariko at Ballarat two weeks ago and previous Adelaide form was consistent. Was G2 placed over this trip at Caulfield last summer. 10. TEODORA can sprint well fresh. Off the scene since a gallant third to Pleasuring in G3 grade at Morphettville. Always shown some promise. 3. ANGELIC SPIRIT set a very strong tempo at Sandown and no surprise to see her weaken. Easy winner at Kyneton before that and drop in class helps.
3. CALIBRATION appreciates his runs spaced and that happened last start when a most impressive winner at Moonee Valley. Loved the way he was able to sustain his run from the 600m mark and was never going
lose in the home. After the claim, he comes in with only 2kg over limit and has drawn perfectly to get the run of the race. 6. ROYAL ORDER was always chasing Calibration last start but stuck to his task well and meets the winner 1kg better this time. He’s right at his peak now. 12. CREEDENCE jumped in grade at Sandown last start and just failed to run past Mr Monaco. The extra 200m looks to be in his favour and racing in great heart. 9. MR QUICKIE had all the favours on the fence last start and was entitled to win. Drawn horribly here but still some chance.
Prepared to gamble on the ability of 15. PRAIRIE FIRE. Hasn’t raced since not handling conditions in the Golden Slipper in March. Great run fourth to Written By Blue Diamond before that. Showed a stack of ability when last in work and has had a jumpout and trial to ready him for this. Drawn get a nice run and worth the gamble. 13. WIND FORCE is also resuming but also has talent. Has a win over Moonlover to his credit at the Valley. Looked good in recent jumpout when he tracked very wide throughout under a good hold. Drawn perfectly and the claim helps. 8. SAM’S IMAGE has twice beaten Nature Strip had a change of stable. Recent jumpout was strong and again has favourable draw. 4. MATTY drawn the car park but is helped by claim here and all his wins have been at this trip.
Think the way the race will be run suits 1. TORGERSEN. He’ll box seat from his good draw and won’t have to do any work until into straight, where his class can get him home. Fought on strongly in the Kilmore Cup last start after getting a nice run off the speed. Racing well and looks
one to beat. 4. AGE OF FIRE is a G1 winner in NZ but hasn’t really fired since arriving here. There was a glimpse of his best shown in the Kilmore Cup when he finished alongside Torgersen and does meet that horse 4kg better this time around. 5. KILIMANJARO can run a big race here fresh. Had change of stable since his last campaign. First-up in Australia last year he was third at Flemington in a slashing effort and sparingly raced here since. Must be included. 10. CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE is resuming but also had his share of talent and big watch in this.
The race pattern here sets up perfectly for 1. DAL HARRAILD and he gets his chance to break through for first Aussie win. He led last start when gunned down in the last stride by The Taj Mahal Zipping Classic at Sandown but don’t think he needs to do that here. He’ll probably allow Runaway to cross and then box seat behind him. Will just need clear galloping room in the straight to prove a bit too good. 3. KIWIA was excellent winning the Ballarat Cup last start, racing clear to win comfortably. Will have no trouble with the extra yardage but does go up 2kg. Still, he’s drawn well to offset that. 5. RUNAWAY led all the way to win the Geelong Cup and pay overlook his Melbourne Cup failure. Races best when allowed to bowl along in front, which he should do here, and rates highly. 8. BERISHA ran on strongly behind Kiwia in the Ballarat Cup and looks well placed here.
Think 5. AMADEUS is ready to win. Kept fresh since a fighting effort behind Iconoclasm at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day and not far off Manel and Fifty Stars before that, which is good form for this. has won his only start this course and distance and bound to be charging home late. 4. CHOISBORDER looks the obvious threat. Narrowly beaten behind Moonlover and Isaurian at Valley three runs back. Too good at Ararat last time and drawn well here. 7. SO SI BON drops dramatically in class was only a length and a half off Dreamforce at Flemington last start. Sure to be in the finish again. 8. CHIPPENHAM was good behind Choisborder at Ararat and then chased home Haunted at Ballarat. He’ll go well.
Going to stick with 13. PROUD WOLF, who was very brave against Jungle Edge at Ballarat two weeks ago. Loves the soft ground, which gets here, and with the claim has nothing on his back. Rates highly in a race where a lot of sprinters are out of form. 12. LEODORO is capable
running well here. Has a great first-up record and handles all track conditions. 14. TOP ME UP is also resuming but has jumped out well and drawn to get a nice run on speed. 3. STELLAR COLLISION can be forgiven his last
and if the track improves, so will his chances.
