Asterius shapes up as the star of the show
ASTERIUS has now had two runs from a break and his last start third to Reflectivity when beaten neck was a good effort from the grey.
He came from seventh at the 400m and was still making ground to the post.
The Sebring four-year-old should prove hard to beat tomorrow at Royal Randwick for Chris Waller as his work has improved.
On Tuesday (Christmas Day), Asterius was timed over 1000m on the Inside Grass with stablemate New Universe running 1.10.70, last 400m in 24.40.
The final 200m from the pair a good 12.00 was a best of the morning effort from Asterius who is sure to run well in ATC Hyland Boxing Day Sale Handicap (1800m). SO YOU WIN always seems to get me in and his last start fifth to Tip Top at Headquarters second-up was more than okay and he will run in the same race as his stablemate Asterius tomorrow.
So You Win worked with Satono Rasen last Saturday and that horse ran a very good race to be runner-up in the Group 3 ATC Summer Cup on Wednesday.
They worked over 1000m with So You Win coming home in 24.90 which was slightly quicker than the import.
He is sure to run well tomorrow. The aforementioned
NEW UNIVERSE made up good ground last start at Rosehill Gardens on December 8 coming from tenth the 400m to be beaten two and three-quarter lengths by Irithea who walked to the line.
New Universe should be ready after four runs this preparation for Chris Waller who has the New Zealand import in ATC Events by ATC Handicap (1400m) at Randwick.
His work with Asterius was an improved gallop running 1.10.70 for the
1000m with a final 200m in 12.00 which was the best last furlong on morning and that work says he has improved.
GRESHAM’S runs this campaign have been good with his last start third to Penske on a Soft 7 at Randwick beaten under a length a very pleasing effort from the Sebring four-year-old.
He is to run in the ATC TAB Rewards Handicap (1600m) for Chris Waller and his work with So You Win on Tuesday on the Inside Grass who passable when the pair ran 1.09.0 for 1000m and a final 200m in 12.70 was okay.
ARANCINI is down to run in the ATC Vale John Marshall Handicap (1400m) where he will be having his third run back from a break.
His last start sixth when beaten three and a quarter lengths by Discussions was okay. He deserves another chance tomorrow.
