VISIT Myan­mar’s lit­tle-known Mer­gui Is­lands on a new sail­ing ad­ven­ture run by Aus­tralian travel com­pany Ac­tive Travel. Boast­ing more than 800 is­lands in the An­daman Sea, the re­mote ar­chi­pel­ago re­ceives only 1700 vis­i­tors a year. Trav­el­ling aboard a lux­ury yacht, the a max­i­mum of eight pas­sen­gers will dis­cover the Mer­gui Is­lands’ white, de­serted beaches lined with palm trees, dense jun­gles filled with wildlife and colourful co­ral reefs on the six-day, roundtrip cruise. Leav­ing from the south­ern Myan­mar port of Kawthaung, there are 23 departures planned be­tween Oc­to­ber and April 2015. Priced from €1800 ($A2658) a per­son, twin share, it in­cludes all on-board meals, wel­come drinks, sun­set drinks each day, shore ex­cur­sions and sea kayak­ing.
