QUEENS­LAND cider lovers will con­verge on Stan­thorpe next month for the state’s first cider fes­ti­val. The Sut­ton’s Cider Fes­ti­val, which will be held on May 18, prom­ises to be a cel­e­bra­tion of the ap­ple that made the Gran­ite Belt town fa­mous by show­cas­ing cider va­ri­eties and lo­cally made pro­duce fea­tur­ing the hum­ble fruit. Held at Sut­ton’s Cidery, it will in­clude tast­ings of Sut­ton’s dry and semi-sweet ciders, along with en­ter­tain­ment by Bris­bane trio Blonde Choco­late. Sut­ton’s Cidery founder David Sut­ton will also be on hand to ex­plain the mak­ing of cider and the process of us­ing cider to make ap­ple brandy and ap­ple cider vine­gar. Book­ings are es­sen­tial and the ticket price of $90 a per­son in­cludes food, cider and en­ter­tain­ment.
