Tour the rugged Kimberley

The Sunday Mail (Queensland) - Escape - - THE BUCKET LIST -

THERE is the chance to journey into the remote Kimberley with Outback Spirit Tours .

Director Andre Ellis said the company’s 15-day Exquisite Kimberley Adventure was one of the most comprehensive and popular tours to the region.

“Passengers enjoy unsurpassed access thanks to a network of exceptional wilderness lodges and local partnerships,” he said.

Strategically located, these accommodation bases make it possible to explore the furthest corners of the Kimberley, including the Mitchell Plateau, Bungle Bungles and Mornington Wildlife Sanctuary.

The tour includes a half-day adventure to the spectacular Horizontal Falls in the Buccaneer Archipelago where the second largest tides in the world hurtle through two narrow coastal gorges and create a ‘horizontal waterfall’ effect.

Passengers travel from Broome to Talbot Bay by seaplane before boarding a high powered adventure boat to take them through the incredible falls.

Mr Ellis said passengers would find it hard to choose a favourite on this fully accommodated adventure as there were so many highlights.

There’s a helicopter flight over the Mitchell Falls, ancient Gwion Gwion and Wandjina art sites, the gorges of Gibb River Road and swimming in thermal pools at Zebedee Springs, just to name a few.

With passenger comfort and safety in mind, Outback Spirit’s fleet of four-wheel drive coaches is made up exclusively of five-star Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

“Not only that, the guides who drive them must have a minimum 10 years of experience, giving passengers welcome peace of mind,” Mr Ellis said.

The Exquisite Kimberley Adventure operates from Broome to Kununurra via the Gibb River Road and Mitchell Plateau, and returns to Broome via the Bungle Bungles and Fitzroy Crossing. A 17-day tour including the Top End is also available.

The tour departs frequently from May to September 2016. Priced at $9995 per person twin share, the cost includes all meals, attractions fees and a custom made explorer pack.

Anyone who books before November 23 could fly to Broome for only $99 each way including taxes. Conditions apply.

More information and a free brochure are available from Outback Spirit Tours.
