Spitfire crash scatters crowd
A REPLICA warplane narrowly missed hundreds of spectators as it crash-landed at an air show northwest of Brisbane.
The replica Spitfire landed heavily at the Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield near Toogoolawah after midday yesterday, the propeller skidding towards onlookers who scrambled to safety.
The 69-year-old pilot emerged unscathed from the wreckage and was treated by emergency services for shock.
Witnesses said it appeared the plane’s landing gear had not come down.
