EXCLUSIVE PICTURE SMITH IS HAVING A BALL IN NEW YORK
DISGRACED Australian cricket captain Steve Smith has set up camp in New York in the aftermath of the ball-tampering scandal.
Smith was spotted looking relaxed at Hotel 50 Bowery bar, in Chinatown, as he downed beers with two male companions.
“He was laughing and joking with his mates,” said an onlooker. “He looked pretty happy and very relaxed – more like a local than an Aussie cricketer.”
Smith arrived at the bar, frequented by locals, in the late afternoon and spent several hours enjoying beers in the sunshine.
After a blisteringly cold winter, New York’s first day of sunshine brought the punters out in droves.
Millions of Australians watched Smith’s teary press conference as he apologised for his part in the ball-tampering scandal but no one recognised him as he quietly enjoyed a few drinks in his new locale.
