INDIGENOUS protesters are expected to target et the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony amid d calls for a “truth h commission”.
While protest- ers indicated they would not be causing any disturbances at today’s mara- thon, they would uld protest “in the vicinity” of the ceremony.
It comes after the “Stolenwealth Games” protesters yesterday clashed with police and other government depart- ments at The Spit, where they were camping illegally. Footage has also emerged online of the Games surfboard countdow down clock at Brisbane’s South Bank being set a alight (left). Kristy Lee of th the Brisbane Sovereign Aboriginal Embassy said a authorities had d disturbed a reli ligious gathering a at The Spit after giving the Camp Freedom members one hour to pack up and leave after midday. The group’s permit to stay at the public park ran out a week ago.
