Support for baby blues sufferers
QUEENSLAND parents will have better support for their mental wellbeing with a $1.1 million funding boost by the State Government.
Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Steven Miles announced the Palaszczuk Government would give not-for-profit service Peach Tree Perinatal Wellness $1,186,020 over 2.5 years.
“Perinatal depression is a common condition that can affect all parents,” the minister said.
“One in 10 women will experience depression during pregnancy. This increases to around one in six women in the year following the birth of their baby.
“One in 10 fathers develop postnatal depression during their partner’s pregnancy and in the 12 months after the birth of their child.”
