Residents threatened with knife during armed robbery
A TEENAGE boy and a 20year-old man have been arrested over an armed robbery at a house in Cairns.
Police allege the pair visited a house at Dillon St, Westcourt, about 11.30pm on Friday and threatened the two male occupants, aged 37 and 39, with a knife.
A scuffle broke out inside the home before the armed man allegedly stole a vehicle and fled the scene.
The second male, who had been waiting outside, fled on foot but was soon taken into custody in nearby Lennon St by officers who responded to a triple-0 call.
It is alleged the stolen ve- hicle crashed into traffic signals at the intersection of Enmore St and Reservoir Rd, Manoora, where the man was taken into custody.
A 20-year-old Cairns man was denied police bail and was to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court yesterday charged with one count each of armed robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving.
A 17-year-old Cairns youth was assisting police with their inquiries.
No one was physically injured during the incident.
