Sony set to get Savage
SAVAGE Garden was one of the biggest bands in the world during the late 1990s, with more than 20 million album sales – and now Sony Music has picked up not just their catalogue but singer Darren Hayes’ first two solo albums, in a deal with John Woodruff Management.
Hayes’ solo albums added another two million sales.
Savage Garden’s hits included Truly Madly Deeply, I Knew I Loved You and I Want You and went to No.1 in 51 countries.
Sony Chairman and CEO Denis Handlin said he was thrilled to welcome Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones (pictured) back to the Sony Music family.
“I have immense respect for these incredibly talented musicians,” he said.
JWM boss John Woodruff said he and his wife were moving on to the next part of their lives and were happy their music had a new home at Sony.
“Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones represent all the best reasons as to why I was attracted to a life in music,” he said.
