Sony set to get Savage

SAVAGE Gar­den was one of the big­gest bands in the world dur­ing the late 1990s, with more than 20 mil­lion al­bum sales – and now Sony Mu­sic has picked up not just their cat­a­logue but singer Dar­ren Hayes’ first two solo al­bums, in a deal with John Woodruff Man­age­ment.

Hayes’ solo al­bums added an­other two mil­lion sales.

Savage Gar­den’s hits in­cluded Truly Madly Deeply, I Knew I Loved You and I Want You and went to No.1 in 51 coun­tries.

Sony Chair­man and CEO De­nis Han­dlin said he was thrilled to wel­come Dar­ren Hayes and Daniel Jones (pic­tured) back to the Sony Mu­sic fam­ily.

“I have im­mense re­spect for th­ese in­cred­i­bly tal­ented mu­si­cians,” he said.

JWM boss John Woodruff said he and his wife were mov­ing on to the next part of their lives and were happy their mu­sic had a new home at Sony.

“Dar­ren Hayes and Daniel Jones rep­re­sent all the best rea­sons as to why I was at­tracted to a life in mu­sic,” he said.
