Hair-rais­ing court case

A HIGH school teacher has been charged with sev­eral child cru­elty and bat­tery counts af­ter she forcibly cut the hair of a stu­dent.

Tu­lare County Dis­trict At­tor­ney Tim Ward said in a state­ment yes­ter­day that 52year-old Mar­garet Gieszinger faces up to three years and six months in jail if con­victed of all six counts.

Gieszinger was ar­rested af­ter a video was posted to so­cial me­dia.

The viedo showed a stu­dent at Univer­sity Prepara­tory High School, in Visalia, sit­ting in a chair as Gieszinger cuts his hair and tosses chunks be­hind her.
