STAFF at the Maroochydore and Cairns police communications centres didn’t receive their Christmas penalty rates in a pay bungle that’s been slammed as disgraceful.

They received their fortnightly pay on the week beginning December 31, but an unknown number were not paid Christmas penalties.

Projected penalties must be supplied in advance for the employee to receive payment for the next fortnight.

A police spokesman said with electronic lodgement of penalty payments, some areas thought that they did not have to arrange for the projected payment of penalties.

“The projected penalties must be supplied in advance for the employee to receive payment for the next fortnight,” he said. “A communique was prepared and distributed. Unfortunately some areas did not receive it.

“Employees that did not receive their penalties had the option of receiving a manual payment and all that have requested a manual payment have been processed.”

Deputy Opposition Leader eader Tim Mander said: “It is absolbsolutely disgraceful that another other Palaszczuk Government t IT stuff-up has resulted in our police not being g paid properly.”
