Have your say on Sunshine State’s best tourist towns

HOLIDAY hotspots Noosa and Bowen will go head to head with the likes of Redcliffe and Ipswich to determine Queensland’s favourite tourism town.

They are among 37 finalists announced today in the new Queensland Top Tourism Town Awards, which is run by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council. The winners of the Small Town and Top Town awards will be decided by the public.

Voting starts today at and runs until April 26.

Airlie Beach, Montville and Woodford are in the running for the Small Town prize, while Noosa, Bowen, Bribie Island, Redcliffe, Tamborine Mountain and Ipswich are among the Top Town contenders.

QTIC chief executive Daniel Gschwind said the awards showcased the diversity of holiday destinations in Queensland.

“With the current focus on domestic tourism, now is the time to draw attention to our regional destinations and to put the spotlight on our tourism operators and communities who keep our regions thriving,” he said.

“We are thrilled with the response from towns from across Queensland who have entered the awards.

“We have towns from as far north as Mareeba, to the coast of Rainbow Beach and out west to Longreach which shows the amazingly diverse tourism landscape we have right here in our backyard.”

Individuals can cast their vote for their favourite tourism town and go into the running to win a $2000 Apollo Motorhome travel package.
