Think happy for a healthy heart. Af­ter re­view­ing a num­ber of stud­ies link­ing op­ti­mism to over­all heart health, US re­searchers have found that pos­i­tive peo­ple not only live longer and have health­ier hearts, but are also more likely to en­gage in heart-friendly habits, such as not smok­ing, avoid­ing meat and sweets, ex­er­cis­ing and eat­ing fresh fruit and veg. Pes­simists, on the other hand, are more likely to en­gage in un­healthy cop­ing mech­a­nisms that could dam­age heart health, ac­cord­ing to the study.
