Stargaze for a happier summer

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - Body and Soul - - YOUR HEALTHY WEEK AHEAD -

The Nordic concepts of hygge and fika might have kept you cosy this winter, but the Scottish trend of coorie is about to transform your summer. Like its Scandi cousins, coorie – which translates to cuddling – is based on the idea of finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. But instead of gaining happiness through material comforts like pastries and scented candles, coorie encourages you to slow down and use what’s around you to find inner peace. Embracing the great outdoors through activities like stargazing, hiking, swimming and kayaking is said to keep your spirits high, as is foraging for fresh fruit and veg or sourcing your groceries from local farmers. Getting your craft on, having a picnic or cooking up a storm are other ways of practising coorie and, considering Scotland was ranked among the 20 happiest countries in this year’s World Happiness Report, this might be a trend worth trying!
