UPPER MUSTANG: HIDDEN TIBETAN KINGDOM PONY TREK

WORLD EXPEDITIONS

FROM $6290 PER PERSON (17 DAYS)

The long forbidden Kingdom of Upper Mustang is horse territory and there is no finer way to experience it than doing as the locals do, riding sure-footed Tibetan ponies. Swapping roads for pony trails, the ride heads across country to Tsarang to the nomad camps then to Lo Manthang before returning to Chhusang. As well as witnessing the skills of local horsemen and marvelling at the elaborate costumes and jewels of Chosar women, you’ll meet Tsewang Jonden Bista, the nephew of the last King of Mustang; visit the 15th century Thubchen Gompa and meet the Amchis (Tibetan healers). Escorted by veteran Mustang and Himalayan traveller, Margie Thomas, the ride departs Kathmandu August 21, 2019. No previous riding experience is necessary.
