THE SCOTTISH BORDERS RIDE

GLOBETROTTING

$4060 PER PERSON (7 DAYS)

Cue the sound of bagpipes, the breeze under your kilt, and plenty of Outlander vibes. This new ride gives equine enthusiasts the chance to ride with Scottish lads and lassies in the oldest horseriding festival in the world – the Common Ridings. Harking back to the 13th and 14th centuries, to a time of Clan clashes and land border wars, Common Riding is a grand tradition celebrated in Scotland between May and September, when this ride takes place. On other days, you’ll enjoy genteel hacks through storybook scenery and retire each night to Cringletie House Hotel with a wee dram by the fire. With a chance to try your hand at Highland games, even though this ride is for intermediate to experienced riders, there’s enough to keep non-riding partners entertained, too. Expect two to six hours in the saddle each day.
