Screen saver: After years running Mecca’s in-house brands, creating and launching many of their bestselling products with a focus on suncare, Ultra Violette co-founder Ava Matthews knew what was still missing from the sun category. “Every dermatologist advises wearing sunscreen every day, but there is nothing special about the way they look, feel or smell,” notes Matthews. “We wanted to create a range of facial sunscreens that looked beautiful, were easy to understand, felt nice to wear, contained great ingredients and played well with the rest of your skincare and make-up.” The One: First up is the Australian-made Queen Screen Lightweight Skinscreen SPF50+, $47, ultraviolette.com.au. “It’s the perfect combination of skincare and sunscreen, and the lightweight formula is packed with antioxidants, but still suitable for sensitive skin,” explains Matthews. Wear it solo, or mixed with your daily moisturiser or foundation. Up next: A mineral sunscreen is slated for next month, with a hybrid moisturiser-primer sunscreen, SPF finishing spray and tinted skinscreens also on the cards.
