ON the pub­lic­ity trail for Fargo (Thurs­days, SBS, best thing since True De­tec­tive) Martin Free­man (above) re­vealed it was prov­ing a big ask to get the cast and crew back to­gether for a fourth sea­son of Sher­lock – what with him and Bene­dict Cum­ber­batch both be­ing such in-de­mand movie stars. “It’s very hard to get to­gether,” he says. “But it’s one of those things where you have to at some point just go, ‘We’re go­ing to do it now’ – other­wise we could be hav­ing this con­ver­sa­tion in three years.” Ex­ec­u­tive Pro­ducer Steven Mof­fat al­ready has sea­son four and five plots mapped out, but if they do sched­ule some film­ing, don’t ex­pect to see the re­sult be­fore 2016, go­ing by their usual two-year breaks be­tween se­ries.
