DARREN says their style has changed “completely” to keep the judges guessing.
“We didn’t want to do anything the same as the last house, and run the risk of the judges coming in and saying ‘boring’. We wanted to show how diverse we are,” he says.
But, as before, aesthetic decisions are his wife’s domain.
“While I loved the style of the glasshouse – and it’s certainly a style I’d do again – it felt like it wasn’t really appropriate for South Yarra,” Dea says.
“I felt like I needed to make it a little bit more refined, maybe a little bit moodier and grown up, sort of luxe-y. So that’s what I’ve done.”
