and now he trav­els to the US to dis­cover the Scot­tish ori­gins of white su­prem­a­cist group the Ku Klux Klan. In the 18th cen­tury, hun­dreds of thou­sands of Scots mi­grated to Amer­ica, with most set­tling in the Deep South. The Scot­tish word ‘clan’ was turned to ‘klan’ by six Scot­tish-Amer­i­can for­mer Con­fed­er­ate soldiers af­ter the Civil War.
