RACHEL Grif­fiths brings her con­sid­er­able tal­ents to the lo­cal small screen, in this sen­sa­tional new, four-part crime thriller.

The Os­car nom­i­nee plays de­tec­tive Grace Gibbs, an ironic name for a woman we meet in anger man­age­ment as she deals with the fall­out from the killing of a ju­nior po­lice of­fi­cer in her charge.

Yo­son An (pic­tured with Grif­fiths) is a strik­ing new tal­ent [he stars in an HBO Asia se­ries also called who blames Gibbs for his friend’s death. Their feud adds ten­sion, as they are paired to in­ves­ti­gate an armed rob­bery, which brings them into the orbit of re­pug­nant con­ve­nience store owner, Erica Hodge (a re­fresh­ing char­ac­ter de­par­ture for Jus­tine Clarke) and her down­trod­den hus­band (Si­mon Burke). There’s also the mat­ter of the dis­ap­pear­ance of an in­ter­na­tional stu­dent.

Stand­out per­for­mances in­clude Ian Mead­ows, who shakes off his nice guy im­age from play­ing a brutal ca­reer crim­i­nal; Matt Nable as Gibbs’ for­mer flame, who still holds a torch for her; and this year’s Heath Ledger Schol­ar­ship win­ner Mo­jean Aria, a star to watch.
