UBER producer Ryan Murphy goes back to the song and dance of while ramping up the fierceness for his new series which introduces us to a gaggle of queens determined to slay at the ball.
We’re not talking Cinderella here, but the late-’80s ballroom culture of New York night clubs – from which Madonna nicked the moves for The self-appointed queen of these queens is Elektra (Dominique Jackson, pictured), who risks arrest to take the crown in royal robes: “I look too good not to be seen.”
From there, the story splits into strands – Blanca leaves the “House” when she’s diagnosed with HIV; troubled teen Damon is looking for his moment; and James Van Der Beek plays a big-noting boss inside Trump Tower. It’s not perfect, but there’s definitely nothing else like it on TV today.
