SAYING goodbye to this series was never going to be an easy task for this brilliant drama’s welded-on fans. But after sobbing through the last hour, I predict it will leave most viewers satisfied with the dramatic resolutions made here.

We find the Bligh family returning to Ash Park for Christmas, ahead of some important changes to follow in the New Year. Sarah and George are taking son David to live in Israel to explore her Jewish faith further; while Elisabeth is busying herself with the new womens’ clinic to support single women, like Anna now raising her daughter alone.

There are some painful decisions facing Jack and Carolyn – will they find a way home to each other? And can he, like many returned soldiers ever heal the emotional wounds they carry after the conflict?
