THE Today show wasn’t the first time we’d seen two women hosting a breakfast TV show – Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney steered Get Krackin’ with no need for a pesky bloke and now they’re back for another series. Of course, it’s a parody of morning TV, but it’s so close to the bone, right down to the spelling mistakes on the ticker tape on the bottom of the screen, that the lines get blurred. This season they’ve borrowed a very familiar theme to embark on a ‘ We Bloody Love Australia’ tour and take their show to towns ”we would capitalist greed is destroying our planet and the internet speed is s---, but we bloody love Australia.” There’s a string of hilarious guests, including Michala Banas, Denise Scott and playing themselves, Isaiah Firebrace and Justine Clarke, while the show’s breakout star is back – issue-riddled saleswoman Helen Bidou (Anne Edmonds), who now comes with a new fashion accessory strapped to her ankle which can’t legally be removed. Keep an eye out for the hosts trying to down room-temperature rancid crayfish, blue cheese and local booze.
