XENA:WarriorPrincess fans rejoice – Lucy Lawless is finally back on the small screen fighting bad guys. But before you get too excited, Lawless isn’t quite the sword-wielding gay icon she used to be. Gone is the pokerstraight, black hair and leather body-armour that Lawless rocked in the cult ’90s series, and in its place is a blonder and more worldweary warrior for justice. In the new Australian series MyLifeisMurder, Lawless plays Alexa Crowe, a retired police detective who is spent her days making bread and hanging out at home with her pet cat. It doesn’t take much to tempt her out of this somewhat dull new routine and into the world of online escorting to investigate the death of a male gigolo’s wealthy client. Interestingly, the circumstances of Alexa’s first case bear more than a few similarities to the real-life death of Lisa Harnum, who was thrown to her death from a balcony by her controlling fiance Simon Gittany in 2011.
