DON’T IGNORE THE BATTLERS, TIGERS
A FATHER drove his two sons all the way from Taree last week to watch Wests Tigers play the Sydney Roosters at Campbelltown. It took four hours each way and cost more than $200 in petrol and meals.
Now this is a battling family but Craig Mitchell decided to take his boys Jim, 9, and Kalim, 10, to the game because they support the teams. As the players were leaving the field, only one Wests Tigers player, Aaron Woods, stopped to give Kalim an autograph. His brother got nine from the Roosters players. It says a lot about both clubs.
At least Wests Tigers have since offered to send the youngster a signed T-shirt. Still, the club needs to be more mindful of its fans. These kids can’t get to fan days because they come from the bush. They spent eight hours in a car to watch their heroes. It’s not good enough.
