BENNETT NOT IN RUSH TO BE TRAINER AGAIN

The Sunday Telegraph (Sydney) - - RACING - BRAD DAVIDSON

GREG Bennett, in no rush to make his next move, is unsure whether he will return to training.

The former Scone trainer in April became director of racehorse development with Aquis Farm in Queensland but Aquis confirmed last week Bennett has left “due to personal and family reasons”. Bennett did not wish to comment about his departure yesterday but said he would take time out to ponder his next move.

“I’m going to stay here for a while (in Queensland) and just see what comes to me, whether anything does come to me or whether I have to go looking,” he told At The Track yesterday. “Most likely we will probably jump on a plane and go visit our son in New York and have a bit of time over there with him as we haven’t seen him for 12 months.’’ WINX will return to Chris Waller’s stables this week to prepare for a tilt at a third consecutive Cox Plate.

Waller said the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 19 will most likely be Winx’s first-up assignment. He has worked an extra race into Winx’s spring campaign again this year so the mare can miss one race this preparation if there is a real heavy track or for other reasons. THE Daily Telegraph’s Steve Zammit had a day out at Rosehill, tipping six of the nine winners.
