Top Dog says runners vital
WESTERN Bulldogs’ premiership coach Luke Beveridge has launched a spirited defence to keep the match-day runner.
Beveridge said it was crucial coaches had the means to deliver messages to players.
“I’m worried about the messaging coming out from the coaching fraternity and even the possibility that the AFL is looking at it (ban),” he said.
The runner issue arose after criticism of GWS runner Nick Maxwell last round, with suggestions Collingwood’s 2010 premiership captain was deliberately positioning himself at opposition kickouts.
